Colleen is definetly right. They also call it that because when someone "Stays STILL" it doesnt move. Therefore the baby is still. Hope I helped :).
It's a more sensitive way of saying "dead", as I'm sure no mother wants to hear that word.
Because if the baby is dead then its not moving so its still.
Because when it was born it wasn't moving it was dead (still)
i would imagine because the baby isnt moving so it is still.
"Still" meaning "not moving/living".
