Any realtors on funadvice?

I think it would be a fun carear to pursue. I’d love to hear from some people who are realtors.

Some questions:

  1. what are some personality traits that are good for this job?
  2. do you enjoy it? Why?
  3. other than math what other school subjects are key for this job?

That’s all I can think of. I bet I won’t get many answers on this one.

But for all who do, thank you, : )

look, if you want to be a realtor, you’re going to need better pictures. ;) KIDDING! just kidding. I looked into becoming a realtor, and it’s not too difficult. as per your questions, 1) outgoing, and fearless. you’ve gotta be willing to talk to people boldly, and be pushy enough to call back even if they didn’t seem too interested. you’ve gotta be positive whenever you’re around customers. none of this emo garbage that runs rampant on funadvice. 2) I was never actually a realtor, so I have no specific answer here. I have done salesman stuff before though, (which is similar,) and it’s fun because you’re out and about all day, you make your own hours, and when you make a sale you feel like you own the world. also, the harder you work, the bigger the payoff. not too many jobs work like that. 3) math isn’t too important, surprisingly. agencies have number crunchers that do all the hard math. basic math is all you need to know. there’s realty classes you can take that will help you get your realtor’s license. they aren’t too expensive, just a few hundred dollars. they’ll teach you everything you need to know for the test. if you fail the test, you can retake it for free, blah blah blah. one final thought; you live in san fransico. I live in los angeles, and unless I’m mistaken, california, (and most of the u.s.) is in a housing market crunch. too many homes, tons of foreclosures, not a lot of buyers. that’s a bad time to be a new realtor. my buddy’s dad is a realtor. 5 years ago he was making several hundred thousand dollars a year. now he’s making around fifty. his wife has to work now, too. not that I want to be the dream crusher or anything, but perhaps now is a bad time to look into the field of realty. just a thought. anyways, live the dream.
