Why do the admins get mad if you tell someone to google something?

because its not helpful? They could have done that without you telling them to. They came here because they wanted someone to help them a bit more personally

Because it’s violating the ToU, that you were supposed to read when signing up. You agreed to them, so I don’t understand why you didn’t read them. Telling someone to google something is NOT an answer, and it’s basically telling them not to use FunAdvice, but instead use Google for questions they have. FunAdvice wants people to use this site for their questions, it’s what they made it for.

Think of it as.. you going to a store, asking someone that works there about a certain shirt you want, and the person telling you to go next door.. when you could have gotten the shirt there. Why send them somewhere else when they can get the answers they need here? It’s not too bad to give a little input and then suggest trying google, but simply saying ‘’try google’’ is pointless…

Because people come here for help. Directing them to Google is almost equal to saying “I don’t know. Figure it out yourself!” That doesn’t help much, does it?

Here’s the thing…most of the members here found this place because Google sent them here. So, if Google sends them here and then we tell them to use Google, how efficient are we? Not very.

Because any idiot can google, the point of this site isn’t to tell people to search for an answer, but to actually give them an or at least a VALID site discussing or explaining the topic. Google isn’t an answer and it isn’t helping the person asking the question. Often as well people can’t find the answer they are looking for on Google and that is why they are there, so by telling them to google it you might also be annoying them.
