It really depends on how you see this story. Do you see it as a symbolic piece of ancient literature, or do you see it as an actual historical event? If it’s just a story that’s trying to make a point, it would be logical that those who first came up with the story weren’t concerned about such details as where Cain and Abel’s wives came from. If you think this really happened, then that’s a good question.

I’ve heard many people say Genesis 4:1-2 indicates Cain wasn’t conceived through human sexual intercourse, God just made it happen. Obviously, if you’re already a Bible-believing Christian, such a thing isn’t outside the realm of possibility. But if you believe God just made Eve conceive, it’s yet another example of a place in the Bible that makes drawing the line between the fantasy and reality of the Bible’s version of history very difficult.

Sorry, hit submit before finished. As for Cain leaving, finding a wife and founding a city in the land of Nod, keep in mind that in ancient literature, people believed their gods and deities actually inhabited the lands of the people who worshipped them. If “God” dwelt in Eden, then Nod would be the home turf of a different deity. Once again, it’s a story, a myth. The point is not to explain the details of who inhabited Nod or where they came from.
