It's like asking why do Irish people think all american people think the same?
You're stereotyping, just like the people you're asking about...
And to answer why it is a stereotype, I suppose because the media portrays it that way (I dont know why)
dude I have no clue I thinks it horrible though my friend falon is form Ireland and she is the coolest person evr and she doesnt drink. I guess it's all about sterotypes and how people choose to believe them instead of actually looking at pplz for who they are. I as an american have never thought of falon as a drunk. or a leprecaun.
american are sterotypical. it shows in our politics.
just like white people will give me dirty looks if im talking loud with my friends (reagardless that they are all white) so yeah srry bout the bias though
Not all americans think that way. No one I know thinks that way. I just think Irish people talk cool. Then again, I don't know all of america.
Its just ONE of the countless generalizations/stereotypes in the world.
...why do some Irish people think Americans stereotype Irish people as drunken leprechauns?
...totally unrelated, but if I give you another shot of whiskey, will you show me your pot of gold?
It's a stereo type just like they think all italians are loud, fat and in the mafia or British people have bad teeth and eat tea and crumpets all day long. It's all stereotypes.
to convince themselves they don't get drunk more often
hahah if this is true, then I must be irish
I'm american, but my heritage is both Irish & Italian.
I for one am a complete drunkie, my daily life consists of cannabis & beer .
Almost 80 % of the Irish people I meet are proud of this stereotype, and live up to it quite well ;]
