Yeah, prepaid debit cards are good for establishing credit and such, but if you're wanting a credit card on hand for an emergency or something like that, I would check out Capital One. That is where I got my first credit card from. I was 16 or 17 years old, getting ready to graduate, very little credit established and my annual income probably wasn't a whole lot at the time. They sent me all the information and papers to sign up for a credit card; before that, I guess I wasn't yet thinking about it, but I'm glad they did, because like I said, it helped out with an emergency. I just made sure I paid it off within the 28 days, so you don't get charged any interest. They started me out with a $300.00 limit and the amount kept on going up because of good standing with me paying it off or more than the minimum interest put together anyways. There was NO annual fee, no processing fee or any other kind of fees for that matter; unlike most of the credit cards company's are trying to get people to sign up for. Just try to get one that doesn't have any of those fees and be sure to read the fine extremely fine print! And as long as you pay off your balance within the billing period, which is usually 28 days or if you can't pay it all, I recommend paying the most you can or at least the minimum amount due, plus the interest amount. If you don't at least pay that, then you won't be getting anywhere; you will be just paying on the interest. Hope ALL that helped, lol. And sorry it was sooo long; just didn't want anyone to get screwed over. ; - )
