This is just the moder world of stereotyping now. It is pathetic if you ask me.
Anyways, what THEY consider the differences are:
GOTHS:
Love dark colours such as black
Love things associating with death, for example vampires and horrors
Rituals etc
Miserable as anything!

EMOS:
Love neon colours matching with black
Associated with EMOtional rock music
Sometimes miserable/suicidal
Reach deep into their hearts to explain emotions
Sullen people/quiet

But it is mainly to do with music

emo is the preppy goth simple as that they cannot fit in with the normal preps or the goths so I guess they decided to make a crossbreed or something

emo is a form of music = emotional.

Emo:

to be blunt, not all emos like neon coloured crap, I for one dont.
Usually poetry/art
Black, skinny leg jeans
Fringe covering eyes
Dont like to be noticed
Sad, but not all
Granted a lot are bisexual or gay , but not all
Likes music like mcr, panic at the disco, silverstein, fall out boy.
Deep, finds meaning in sadness.
Suicide is usually linked (but is another catagory all in itself)

Goth:

Dark clothes ,black,red (blood) usually.
Vampires and other macabre things.
Edgar allan poe, fetishes for dark poets I suppose.
They are deep as well but more in a dark sort of way.
Mysterious.
Bands like diary of dreams, bahauas (however spelt).
Cemetarys

We have our diffrences,
we are always misunderstood, as is any catagory or genre.
No emos, goths are not always sad, there are just misenterpreted,
They find meaning and purpose in what they like.
For example there probebly going to be more thankful for a stormy, gloomy ,thunder storm day than a sunny one.

All in all we have our differences, just like scenes and emo's do.
We also have our wars, but that is anotherstory intirly.

goth people wear reds and black and other weird colours. they dont really talk and for some reason write a lot of poerty. emos wear only black and listion to emotionall music. they also like to express their feelings in weird ways. my one friend is goth and the other is emo. so im an expert on this!

emo kids = typicaly very emotional can range from being sad and wearing dark clothes to being veryhappy and wearing neon bright colors. its about mood.

goth kids = black. its either black or not black we like red but black is the most used color in our clothes hair and accesories.

then there are (sic)o's = they do what they want when they want and dont give a damn. they can wear black and neon clothes of a emo but a mind of a goth

You're pretty much all incorrect, and Smexii, I'm disappointed that a fellow advisor would say such negative things about something you clearly know nothing about.

Now, since I don't know much about emo myself, I have no comment regarding them, the music they like, or the clothes they wear.

However.

Goth is about liking goth rock.
That's the end.
No, asstards, goth is not about vampires. It's not about death. It's not about wearing black.
EVERY goth I've met, which is easily 100 different people, is pretty happy, and shows just as many signs of depression, mental illness, or general unwellness as anyone else.
Goths are NOT inclined to depression.
Goths are NOT more likely to self-harm than anyone else.

It's about music.
The end.

emo's want to kill themselves. goths want to kill themselves, and take out as many people as they can on their way out. ringleader8 has it perfect. live the dream, and steer clear of BOTH of them, as we should cut all debbie downers and negative nancies from our lives. (get it? CUT them from our lives! oh man, I KILL myself.) wink
