North American box turtles are omnivores. Their sharp eyes and keen sense of smell help them in finding food such as snails, insects, berries, fungi, slugs, worms, roots, flowers, fish, frogs, salamanders, various rodents, snakes, birds, and eggs. During their first five to six years, the young are primarily carnivorous while they grow. Adults tend to be mostly herbivorous, but they do not eat green leaves.[2] Box turtles have been known to eat road-kill. Babies and young turtles need more protein and prefer a carnivorous diet, and then include more and more plant matter as they get older

Take care !!
all I know box turtles eat are earthworms, strawberries, and poisonous mushrooms the mushrooms can kill people but only if you eat them. SO DON'T EAT POISONOUS MUSHROOMS!
I recemtly printed out a care sheet, and it said what you should give them. If you just got a turtle and want it to eat, try giving it a turtle salad: sliced grapes, fungi, leaves, insects, and top it off with an earthworm.
The number one rule is to NEVER GIVE A TURTLE LETTUCE!!!
Lettuce can give any turtle extreme diareah and sickness, and it will kill the 75% of the time. Most people don't know this, but if you ask a veteranarian, they'll tell you the same. If your turtle hasn't ate in 4-10 days, try soaking or misting the turtle with water before it eats. If this does not work after seversl tries, take them to the vet. Also make sure you
NEVER GIVE THEM THE SAME FOOD TWICE IN A ROW!!!
If you do this they could develop unhealthy addictions to said food. Also, only feed them once or twice a week, every week. They don't use much energy and burn food slowly. If you feed them to much, I think you can quess what happens. I hope this was some help to anyone seek help for their turtle. Thank you.
