Well first of all I think the court system whould have to decide how this would work but to be a good father you need to be their for your child more than 2 times a week especially if he wants to have custody of this child it will be a full time job having a babysitter lined up have child care so you can work being able to provide a roof over their head and food and diapers it's a big respnsibility. this is for the next 18 to 20 years he really needs to weigh his options and get in touch with a laywer if this is what he wants to do!!
Also the best thing you could do is stand beside his decisions that he is makingand don't try to persuade him he needs to make this decision!!
I hope this helps!
I would think you would have to prove that the ex is an unfit mother.
Dear nani,
from your question it would appear he was 13 when he was with his ex...or is the baby 4 months old? If the issue is abuse then wanting custody or not this has to be directed to children services. If you know of abuse and do not report it you can be fined and loose all way of gaining custody of the child. If she is a good mother than the child should be with his mother at this point. Calling 2x a week is not nearly enough bonding for a child. He must see the child and begin being a father before he can even consider having custody.
Sue...good luck
