do not know whether he was born in the United States, but if he was not, he needs to resign. What do you think about the controversy?

That and Arnold Schwarzenegger wouldn't be allowed to run for president because he wasn't born on U.S. soil... So no, I doubt Obama would be in this position if he was born elsewhere. And they have to look over his information before even considering him a candidate... Why would they do it so late?

Also, per the ad that group filed, they only need $20K to get the issue sorted...why can't they raise the money, if this issue keeps coming up?

From newsletters I've read, it seems pretty easy for a political group to raise cash when they have a cause the group believes in.

His birth certificates has been provided and verified. He was born in Hawaii in 1961.

The courts have indirectly addressed this issue. If you are a citizen who is not naturalized, then you are legally a natural born citizen. Foreign born children of a US citizen (at least one parent), are thus considered natural born. Several Presidential candidates have fallen into that category, including McCain.

Either way, McCain was born on a US military base, and thus is considered to be born on US terroritory.
