What would happen if we don't bail out wall street? And what's the difference between wall street and main street?

There is an entire network in the US that depends on the loan and credit system offered by these financial institutions. Small businesses depend on it, farmers depend on it, and home owners depend on it. The concern is that if these banks collapse, so does the mechanism for loaning money in the US economy, and the rest of the economy will collapse with them due to a contraction of the money supply.

wow...I thin if we dont do something, we could end up like another great depression or something but maybe not as worse but still really bad. wall street is where they exchange stocks and stuff and main street is I guess just a street.

If Wall Street collapses, then Main St will close down...at least for a while...no payroll loans, no credit, no flooring for cars, trucks, mobile homes...just no credit, period...

Politicians use the wall street/ main street in reference to corporate America and the average citizen. At least that is how I interpret it.
