Family vacation in cozumel or cancun?

I'm planning a family vacation with my husband and two children age 14 and 10. I cant decide between cozumel or cancun. any suggestions please. we really want to snorkel

actually the last i heard cancun was still in the stage of rebuilding after all of that hurricane/flood damage????..........i'd go to montego bay (horseback riding, dolphin lagoon down near half moon) or st. lucia or the cayman islands and barbados is beautiful also..........cancun is too hectic and too frantic with college students bumping here and there.........rightly so, definitely cozumel out of those 2 choices, it has awesome blue waters that would be a good spot also, i'd look at the other 3 or 4 mentioned also, ppl haven't even heard of st. lucia but its well worth it if you know what ur doing in advance..........planning planning planning, will make ur trip enjoyable and very relaxing when you get there knowing how ur stay will go.......

I went snorkling in Bali, Indonesia as a kid - it was amazing, though the flight is about a day away from the US (23 hours, from memory). Cancun seems overly toursity from what friends have said, though I haven't been there myself - so of the two places you mention, I might try Cozumel for snorkling.

Though if they don't have very good coral reefs, you might keep looking for another place, as it's really the coral reefs that make snorkling so much fun (imho). Thanks for posting.

plus i loved sharks reef, i'm kind of a shark junkie, i don't know y..........jamaica overall is a very good place for a family vacation, even a college vacation to get out of the norm
