Why is my usb cord a fire hazard?

my usb cord almost caught my computer on fire and it dosint work really anymore I have to have it in a special spot what can I do to fix it

Well I doubt there is a way to fix it and if it has almost caused a fire it is time to buy a new one. They can be bought cheaply...seen them in the dollar store.

those cords are like 10 bucks or so
