Can I use my usb cable from my camera to transfer music to my phone

if its the same USB end as your phone takes. Both my phone (Motorola Razor) and my camera (Canon Power Shot) take the same usb cord. But I also needed a piece of software called Motorola phone tools to get it work. I couldn't just hook it up and see it like a jump drive.
