My dog was never actually fixed.

hj Asked by evalynn about 1 year ago, 8 answers.

We took my australian shepard to get fixed two years ago. I recently saw her letting a male mount and became suspious, so my mom took her to the vet for an x-ray. It revealed that she had never been fixed, and was pregnant. My parents are furious. The...

vet we took her to to get fixed seems to have just cut her opened and stitched her back up. My dad called the old vets office(we changed vets about a year ago)and they said the vet who preformed the operation no longer works there, and they don't know where he's working. What should we do?

WHAT? This is a very strange situation. Has she not been in heat before now?

I think so! Your poor dog...That's just ridicules! Your parents should take legal action, and hopefully you can find out where the guy works. How could someone trick people like that is what I don't get...Now your going to be stuck with several puppies that shouldn't be brought into the world in the first place. That makes me mad, I feel like I should make sure they actually spayed my dog. What a jerk..

I know. I feel guilty though because I'm always telling my friends and everyone to fix their pets, and mine got pregnant. :[[

Don't feel bad about this situation, this is not your fault. You were either stuck with a dumb-a$$ that shouldn't be a vet, or you were stuck with a vet who really doesn't care about the welfare of animals, and is a dumb-a$$. After your puppies are born, I'd talk to your friends/family about any trusted vets, or ask around online. I'm sure you know not to go back to that vet office ever again. You know how you can make yourself feel better? Warn everyone you know NOT to go to that office and go to a better place. That's what you can do. happy Good luck! I really hope you find that person!

There's not much you can do about THIS situation...Does your new vet do abortions? (Some vets do) or call around and see if you can find a Vet who will do it...or you can go ahead and get her fixed after the puppies are weaned.

You might take her back to your old vet's office and demand she be spayed at no cost, since it was THEIR office where the original spaying was done. They might just do it, to keep a legal hassle out of their hair.

If you remember the name of the Vet who was supposed to do the spay, see if you can Google him, and find out where he is now...You might be able to make his life a little miserable, tho suing him would probably cost more than it'd be worth...

Makes ya wonder why he's no longer at the original office, tho...did he do this more than one time??? Hmmm...I wonder!

I would guess she has been in heat a few times, but we always lived in a home with a fenced yard, that only our other dogs could get into. We moved a few weeks ago, and this is the first time she's had a chance to be around an unfixed male. The male was my neighbor's, and he's an Australian Shepard also. And since the x-ray only showed 2 pups, I hope they will be easy to find homes for.

Make sure to ask a rehoming fee so they dont get mistreated! Good thing you found a new vet!
