When living in the public eye, especially when this is a position of such high profile as this, one would hope that their house is in order. Sure people make mistakes and as such should be allowed the forgiveness that is warranted. The fact that he waited until after the nominaiton and just say, whoops, I forgot is a bit sketchy and I would really not put my trust in him were it my finances.
Do we feel remorse BECAUSE we get caught, or is their conviction to do it right the first time?
I have had a row with Daschle ever since he went sour during the Western Governors' Conference in Jackson, Wyoming a few years ago. He went completely 180 and haven't trusted him since. When you get caught in a lie, it takes a long time to build trust. It is so much easier to keep what you have, than try to get back something you've lost.
