I always tend to go the route of science when it comes to things like dating the universe. However,...I don't take stuff like this as the be all end all of the argument either. Science keeps dating the universe differently depending on what school of thought you come from. The numbers will change again and again, I'm sure. But still, I'd have to say scientific information was a little more concrete then what are essentially biblical stories.
That's true the Bible is ridiculous. The Earth is not 6,000 years old. These people have no knowlege of science. Some think the entire Universe is 6,000 years old. We have human fossils that date 4.5 million years, there are probably humans before this but no bones, due to cremation, and we have rocks that date 4.54 billion years old, and stars older than 12 billion years old, so it can't all be 6,000 years old.
The reason is because 6,000 years for the age of the world is completely ridiculous. There are human fossils over 4.5 million years old, and rocks on the Earth that are over 4.54 billion years old. Science I am not sure of because as you know it has always been wrong in the past and then it changes, so it probably change more in the future. It's like if somebody said the world was 400 years old would you beleive it? Probably not because it is ridiculous. Again Christians would not be right because it is ridiculous to think that the world is only 6,000 years old.
my bad. I typed in the wrong number. I meant to say 5,000 years. sryy.
and to your commetn aboout fossils being 4.5 million years old. on tv there was a scientist that said that a snail they found was millions of years old. well guess what the snail did. it walked (well not walked but I cant think of the right word that snails do. haha) off... so that goes to show that even science is wrong a bunch of the times
I know the Bible says the world is between 6,000 and 10,000 years old. But where do you get 5,000 years from? What relgion is 5,000 years from? Could you give me a quote from that relgious text? It would be very much appreciated if you can because I like learning about different cultures and religions. Thank you for your time.
There is strong evidence that the *KNOWN* universe is ~14 billion years old. If the ultimate universe is more than simply the known universe (which is reasonable to induce since the known universe continues to expand), well, we still know nothing about it's age.
The Vedas are obviously mythological in nature.

Science or relgion?

Science or relgion?
Scientists now say that the Universe is only 13.7 billion years ago. Most religions do not comment on how old the Universe is, but I have read from one religion in the Vedas that they say the Universe is about 159 Trillion years old which is much more...
than 13.7 billion years. What is right 159 trillion years or 13.7 billion years? Is science right or the Vedas right? Please don't preach how you think the Universe is 6,000 or 10,000 years old, because that makes no sense whatsoever. I just want to know if the Universe could really be 159 trillion years old, or if it is in actuality only 13.7 billion years old.
