Why do people fued over religion and science?

me at the beach Asked by patron_of_death over 2 years ago, 17 answers.

I have a question, Why is it that people find the need to attack people who believe in Religion . Do they not have anything better to do? Or are they just a bunch of childish people just trying to Prove something. whats the point in it? Isn't it kind of...

Pointless just to start trouble like that? Why not just grow up and ignore people you dont like, instead of fueding like children? just texplain that to me? Sure- Each to their own, but this is crazy.

Uhm. Because Science is fact. Religion is a Fairytale. Science is proof before you're very eyes. Religion is all based on a made up book. We have no proof of anything that was in the bible! Whoever wrote the bible was probably just discovering mushrooms and herbs if you catch my drift.

Bottom line, Science is wisdom. Religion is ignorant and niave.

This is a question that's just begging for an attack on your religion :-) What religion are you?

Really, people who attack a SPECIFIC religion are silly. The thing is that ALL organized religions should be attacked. Religions are nothing more than the following:

* An hierarchy of priests/rabbis/imams/etc
* Each member of the hierarchy knows more about the deity as you rise through it
* The authority of the leader of the religion is unquestioned
* The leader of the religion gets his authority directly from god
* The leader communes directly with god (hence the inability to question him)
* The hierarchy separates the common believer from the deity.
* The common believer attends some kind of performance weekly where a large number of common believers are the audience and the hierarchy perform on the stage
* The common believer is supposed to believe and obey everything stated in this performance.
* Generally during the performance, the common believer generally abases himself before the deity (and the hierarchy), and after this abasement, asks the deity for something... generally health, money or love.
* The performance generally ends with the common believer throwing some money into the collection basket so that the performers can survive.

Its not that I don't believe in God, but the trappings of ANY organized religion, let alone their writings (bible, torah, etc), are not going to get between me and my deity.

So yes, this is why people attack your religion, and thus your faith in that religion which in all cases is misplaced, and mistaken by common believers as faith in their deity. Witness people who lose their faith when they leave their church.

And a followup.

For me, religion is faith in things that you cannot answer. Science is the search for emperical evidence to those questions.

So, of course, religion is going to be upset when science provides yet another answer that breaks down a cherished article of faith and tradition. Hence the big fights these days.

If you were living in the 15th century, would you not be upset that scientists discover that the sun does not revolve around the earth? Would you not want to put that scientist to death or excommunicate him, or brand him a heretic?

After all, as a leader you've been telling your congregation about that for centuries, and here come these pesky scientists making you look bad!!

Not everyone sees science and religion as enemies. The smartest computer scientist and physicist I ever met was a devout Christian. He had no problem with heleocenterism, evolution, or any other scientific theory. I think he thought along the lines of the Bible giving the big picture, and science explaining details.

The problem comes when religionists claim to have a monopoly on knowledge. I listened to a preacher arguing against evolution. He told his followers that whenever they read anything that they must first consider what the Bible has to say. If any theory, viewpoint, or physical evidence goes against a literal interpretation of anything in the Bible it must be rejected outright. This type of thinking seems to be the source of the friction between science and religion.

Some people believe that science explains everything, well it doesn't! Theres a joke: a scientist said me can form man from dirt and God said show me, so the scientist bent down and picked up the dirt and God said, get your own dirt! So basically they are using Gods stuff to Prove christians wrong, which makes it inaccurate!

Couldn't science and religion find a middle grounds? Is there not truth in the big bang as a result of God's creation? Could that just not be a way God shows us His Awesome power and we are now starting to understand it? Why does people run and say that it shows God's a fake?

well, the Muslims always think they got it right and everyone else is wrong and going to hell.

there are also many atheists who do this, but this is their choice and you shoudl be happy you live in a country where you can debate or denounce religion without having your head cut off.

Hmm, when i first posted this i had a sense of anger toward a person that had tried to much to Put faith using science and saying that God soes not exist. But the funny thing is this that science may prove som things, but what stand firm in the religion of creation cannot be explaned so simply by just gas and pressure. How did the gas get pressure, where did the Intial energy come from? How can man be the only animal to have reason? If such a result of eveolution why did nothing else have such reasoning? Why dont other animals build cars? Some things just dont make sense. Like Adaption. A giraffe has a long neck b/c it strencthed its neck for so long that it grew that way. That the food was so scarce that it had to do this. Then why doesnt other animals in that area have such long necks? Why only the giraffe? It would seem an answer was found fast, but i guess a reason behind it at first, but yet later on where is it? I may be wrong about this, but if i dont im not sure. Perhaps a better explanation of it would make better sense to me.

some people find that there`s contradiction between science and religion as they may have an idea that science is more powerful than religion and may be they see that it`s weakness to believe in somthing u don`t see(god) although there no contradiction between science and relgion, on contrary religion leads to science if u have a deep look at it for example islam calls to search in universe so that the more u serach the more u see how great god is great in his creation to human and living things even things which we can`t see by naked eyes and many scientific miracles were found in quran like the methods of creation of the baby and many many other things thus there is no contradiction between being religious and scientific in the same time

Science can make sense of the tangible, physical, biological. Religion...well...it was originally intended to give hope and purpose, to give explanation to the intangible, the beginning and the unknown. But...like many things...people screwed it up...

Science proves that our bodies were made out of dirt, just like the bible said we were, if we are short on a mineral, or a vitamin, something starts to not work right.
Analyze dirt, then analyze the human body... and you will find the same things...

Science can explain somethings as to how they work but science cannot answer why things happen the way they do! Even scientists believe that their is a force that controls and regulates all the processes of life and everything that happens in this universe and we happen to call that force god! I believe in science because all science does is explain the way god wants things to happen! Simple!

Prophet Muhammad said :

{In every one of you, all components of your creation are collected together in your mother’s womb by forty days...}

{If forty-two nights have passed over the embryo, God sends an angel to it, who shapes it and creates its hearing, vision, skin, flesh, and bones...}

Now this is a man who wrote this 1400 years ago, and the processes of the sperm production in the womb was only discovered not long ago! Look into islam for yourselves for your own knowledge and there are signs of god for the people who are deep thinkers and contemplators!
