Pet rats- good or bad?

ok im just asking for the people who own pet rats. do you think they make good or bad pets? and are they hard to take care of? I curently have 2 cats and a dog do you think it would be a lot more work with a pet rat?

I had a pet rat named Spike and he was the best! I didn't put him in a cage I let him roam the house even thouh I had three cats, the cats are more afraid of rats then they are mice. I don;t know why. He was so easy to take care of.

I love pet rats they are cool but you have to keep the cage clean its not that hard just empty the cage and refill it bout once a week and keep the rat clean it should be really fun to because they are a very intriguigin animal

If they are raised properly they are amazing pets - 2 of mine were abused servery in the past so they bite but that's not their fault. They are easy to take care of if they have the proper cage and owner. We have 6 cats - but the rats cage is in a different room.

they make good pets if they were/are:

1. never abused
2. raised properlly
3. healthy
4. playful
5. willing

I love my rats.
if you handle them they stay nice and are great pets. But I have a friend that dropped her rat and scared it.. now it is the meanest lil thing ever.
