Nuts in moderation can be healthy to eat. Remember that nuts are high in fat and calories so it is better to eat a fistfull than the whole tin. The fats in nuts is monosaturated and polyunsaturated and can actually lower cholesterol, esp. the LDL or bad cholesterol.
Everyone needs some fat in their diet and you are better off getting your fat from nuts from most alternatives.
