Why won't my pregnant chihuahua eat?

My chihuahua is 3 week pregnant but I don't now why is she not eating so what can I do so that she can eat??? And another question when does her tummy star growing??? Will me I think her tummy start growing in 4 - 5 weeks right please help thank u!!!

what kind of food are you feeding her? I have a pregnant chihuahua (Bella) she is around 38 days now, she went through a picky stage about 2 weeks ago, but she came out of it very fast. Try supplementing her food with some cottage cheese or a hard boiled egg. It's adds alittle protein and calcium and is good for healthy pups. However do not feed her that everday, also contact your vet, they will probably tell you not to worry but it's better to be safe. Good Luck!!!

From what I read on the internet, you should get your dog into the vet because it is really important for pregnant dogs to eat because she needs the nutrition to care for her pups.

Amen to stephanie...If you haven't changed her feed in the last few days, and she hasn't been showing any other signs of stomach distress...like diarreah or vomiting...then take her in and get her a check-up...They may do a blood workup, too, to check her liver and kidney values...

first go to the vet for a check-up, then I suggest going to a pet store and buying milk, get the one for pregnant b I t c h e s and puppies...

Going through the exact same thing right now. My dog is 3-4 weeks pregnant and refuses to eat. She'll drink water but that's about it. Luckily for both of us, it's VERY common a 3-4 weeks for a pregnant dog to stop eating for a day or two...it's called morning sickness! As long a it doesn't last more than a few days, she'll be just fine. Look for a growing belly in another week or so...it will happen very quickly. he should also have swollen teats now a well.

Dogs do not show signs of being pregnant until about the last 2-3 weeks before delivery. Your vet can do a ultrasound, x-ray and sometimes a physical exam to feel for the pups. The belly will get bigger and wider depending on size of the dog and the litter. When it gets to 98.?-99.? And stays there, or the dog is panting a lot, digging and scratching to make a den, shows visible signs of discomfort and has stopped eating, it is time!

My shih tzu is 4 weeks pregnant and she's doing the same thing..However she is starting to eat again now. She was hit by a car last week and I thought that had something to do with it, but the vet said its just doggy morning sickness

I have a question...my chihuahua mix is supposibly pregnant.at the moment she would be around 4-5 weeks if pregnant.her belly has gotten harder but her teats havent been producing milk or sagging.is it too early to tell if she is pregnant or not? thanks!oh and also she did tie with a male long haired chihuahua but only for a few seconds..is there still a possibilty thay she is pregnant? I have been studying dog breeding for a while now and I do have a mentor but I just want to ask if there still a chance that shes pregnant and if it's too early to tell if she will be having pups or not? thankyou.

my dog is also about 4-5 weeks pregnant and she won't eat either and she sleeps all the time and barley eats but she starting to eat more but her belly isn't really different but I can feel maybe two pups in her belly when will she get real big? also this will be her first litter

Try to give her Nutri-Cal. You will get it with your veterinary. It makes Chi's stronger when they do not each much.
