Losing some pounds and inches

Asked by lostangel about 1 year ago, 2 answers.

I've been looking at my stomach lately..and it seems to be sorta flat yet sorta fatty too.. Like I have a slight round belly..I like the curves sorta..and the love handles..idunno..most girls dont like them...but I do in a weird sense...im a size...

5/7...when I used to be a 7/9, 5'2 and 145 lbs. Though they say its more towards the inches lost rather than the pounds.. Since fat can easily turn into muscles, I've been saying this for long and im ready to actually do it..like I start to work out then I stop..anyways.. If I walk like 8-10 miles a day..for reason I like to walk..I think its the fact that I easily have a 2 mile road surrounding my house..that I know its easily 2 miles walked..I cant really run..due to narrow nostrils..its a pain to run..though I love to..anyways I want to lose fat.. So if I walk 8-10 miles a day..for the whole month do you think I would easily lose inches/fat?

Simply a Rose to brighten your day,
And maybe lessen the cares in your way;
And also, too, to help you to know,
That in knowing you, many others grow!

First, I don't believe fat ever turns into muscle. What you may be thinking of is that, by exercising, you build muscle and reduce fat by burning calories.

If you want to run, breathe through your mouth.

I think walking / running 8 - 10 miles a day for the whole month would help you tone muscles, lose some fat and maybe some inches too.

How can I Lose 1 pound of body weight per week?

One pound of body fat is equal to about 3500 calories. So to lose 1 pound of weight per week, you need to eat 500 calories/day LESS than you burn.

But it's not a good idea to lose weight simply by cutting calories. As well as decreasing calories you should increase your daily physical exercise. This helps to burn calories and build more lean tissue which in turn burns more calories.

What should a minimum calorie intake be?

As a guide to minimum calorie intake, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that calorie levels never drop below 1200 calories per day for women or 1800 calories per day for men. Even these calorie levels are quite low.
