What kind of picture do you like - color or black and white?

I am not talking about the old black and white pics of like 1900s lol but like today with the feature of black and white or color. which do you like better? I personally like the black and white pics to me they are nicer, and brings the person “out” more than the background. like the pic is more focused on the person.

On my own personal pictures I like for my pictures to be black and white; On other people’s pictures I expect color because seeing black and white makes me bored and kind of makes me feel like I am suffocating.

to me, it really depends on the photograph. I’ve seen a lot of really nice black and white photos that just wouldn’t be right to see them in colour. However the reverse is also true, a lot of nice colour pictures only look good that way.

I like both for different types of pictures. Like, if you had a pic of a woman crying on a pier on a windy day… then that would look better in black and white. But a pic of kids playing at the beach would look best in colour because you want to bring out the blue water and the sun and sky. Serious pictures look best in black and white whereas playful snaps are best in colour imho lol

I think it depends in the picture, sometimes the black and white adds a good affect on them and it makes them look perfect and well taken, but sometimes the black white just does not got with the picture. But yeah, I like black white best, it sometimes looks better, makes it look proffecional, and also I love it when you can add the little color splash thingy too.

I like real color picx best because yu could see the person’s real color and what they really look like, but black & white looks nice too,

Black and white is the best to express emotions, thoughts and the point of a photo. To start off with it makes the picture look more classic and elegant. You can make a simple photo of a flower turn into something magnificent with the feature. A black and white photo portrays meaning to a simple image. With the proper contrast, it can convey a message to a viewer. I see photography as a form of art. Like a painter might use a canvas another might use plaster for their paintings, one might use color and one black & white. Either way, for natural pictures I think color photos are great but for a more memorable, photo to look back on, black & white is more ideal. I love how you can transform a simple color image into a black & white one which makes it seem so much more powerful and strong yet gentle and soft.

It all comes down to the vision of the photographer. When you look at the inspiring B&W vistas by Ansel Adams or the amazing B&W portraiture of movie stars from the 50’s and earlier you can see the power B&W can have. At the same time color opens up a whole palate of color and effects to the photographer. Even though the process is simpler, B&W photograph is actually more difficult to do well than color. Our eyes are used to accepting a rather wide divergence in color since we view objects in different light. In values our eyes have less latitude; when we look at B&W photos we want to see inky blacks, pure white highlights, and a smooth gradient of grays in the picture. A B&W photo that is to dark, light, flat, or contrasty will offend even an uncritical eye. I personally like B&W better because of the challenge of making the perfect print. I do not consider it to be superior to color; it is simply a different medium.
