There's nothing wrong with taking up another religion as long as you don't try and force it down other's throats.

I guess people in other religions would say this is bad, obviously because they believe you're going to hell. but I'm just like you, except I'm agnostic, and I don't see anything wrong with it. I think like this: so many religions exist... so which one is really right? Greeks believed in so many gods, and if you study ancient Greek religion, pretty much everything seems silly. But it was around before Christianity. so who's to say what's right? as long as you follow good morals, and are still a relatively good person (the usual.. golden rule.. no killing.. you know, that kinda stuff...), I don't believe there's anything wrong with your beliefs. hope this helped. :]

Nope not bad.
You were never taught anything else.
I am Atheist and my parents are Catholic.
I respect there beliefs and they respect mine.
I think with respect we could all go a long way.
You being a different religion doesnt make you bad.
This is why people hide there TRUE feelings most of there lifes.
Because they are scared of getting judged and being thought as bad.

in the end it is your choose and no one can stop you
but when you look at a beautiful sun set or a lovely waterfall or cute little creature Ex : cat or rabbit
or something smart like humans
do you really think that this was created by chance with out intervention from a higher being (God)
if you really think so than do it
if not look for another religion that makes sense to you
I personally believe in god and am a Muslim

If you feel it's bad, or even have to ask, then perhaps you're not really sure you're an atheist and are not ready.

Whatever you do or whatever you believe in, you have to be certain. If you're not, then you're not ready to make any decisions.

If you have to ask? Then yes, it's bad until you know for sure.

A7med93 - ***but when you look at a beautiful sun set or a lovely waterfall or cute little creature Ex : cat or rabbit or something smart like humans do you really think that this was created by chance with out intervention from a higher being (God)”

Oh really A7med it EASIER to belief, understand and accept that someone juggled it from dust than evolution hey ;-)

athleta4life - ***you just havent asked enough questions yet***

OR maybe cereallolz134 did ask enough questions, the only difference between him and you is: He actually understood the answers and used his common sense! ;-)

Cereallolz134 - No it is not a bad thing, you wont be sorry and don’t worry about the threats of hell, that’s usually the last way out for theists to try to scare you!
Take care :-)

***not like God and logic have nothing to do with each other.***

Actually it IS like that. The concept of god DEFIES logic. Which is why logic can be used to conclude both god's existence AND nonexistence.

***you just havent asked enough questions yet***

Funny... the more questions I ask, the less believable it becomes...

I'm a great believer in God. And all I can say is that you are your own person therefore if through all your experience and findings feel that God does not exist, then that's how you feel. I don't believe in judging people so no one else on earth have a right in their bones to judge how you feel. God gave everyone freedom of choice to live as they wish and believe in whatever they feel makes them complete.

If being an atheist makes you feel bad about yourself then why do it? Do what makes you happy and proud of who you are. There are a lot of religions out there and have your entire life to choose whatever makes you whole. It takes more faith not to believe than it does to believe. For me God is real because I feel it and I see it. All the best in finding your path in life:-)

If there is a god, would it really make sense for that being to punish you for using the reason it endowed you with to conclude it didn't exist? No. From this, we can conclude that if there are any gods, they simply don't care whether or not we believe in them.

So no, there's nothing wrong with being an atheist, even if we turn out to be wrong.

***It takes more faith not to believe than it does to believe***

Please explain: It takes more faith to believe in WHAT/WHO?

It takes more faith to believe in yourself and your own capabilities when you
Decide to become Atheist! That’s the only faith we have and so many people
lack of. It is because people put their faith in someone else’s hands and not LEARN
to accept all events (good or bad), they can also not accept their circumstances or
responsibility for their doings.

They wish to think there’s a supernatural explanation!

If you do not agree with me, you can test yourself, by pretending you are an Atheist.
Think of any events in the past six months and try to give a natural explanation for it (without a god!) be HONEST ! You would be surprised!

It's good to keep an open mind to everything, don't jump to a conclusion. Everything along these lines requires lots of questions, understanding of what you know/think you know, input from peers and people in your life that you trust.

Now I say keep an open mind but that doesn't necessarily mean agnosticism. Almost every belief (even atheism to a degree) has an issue with people that are luke-warm.

Just keep an open mind, never stop asking questions, learn at every corner, and love and treat others the same way you want them to treat you. If you find that you truly believe something, don't let others tell you you're wrong. They're in the same boat as you, me, and everyone else.

Just busy resting, don't bother me. Answered by diamond_kicker on Sep 26, 2009, 07:28AM

Not much can be done if you want to become an atheist, after all it's your decision. But before doing so, I'd advise you to think about, learn more about atheism, and try to see if it's what you really want. There are people who don't walk with God but lead a seemingly good life.

It's a big decision mate, so think it through, considering all aspects.

I don't think people become atheists. You either believe in God or you don't. If you don't then you are an atheist. Nothing to become. No, it is not bad.

well...it's not just not believing in God, it's not believing in anything but the natural world. Atheists believe in science and things that can be seen, refuted, and proven wrong and right.
