Should i make the first move with my crush?

Okay, so I have liked this guys for a really long time, but I have only recently thought about actually being in a relationship with him. He's pretty much all I could ever ask for in a guy.

But the thing that's bothering me is that when I talk to our...

friends [yeah, we pretty much have the same friends] they say things like he's gay or that he's a terrible boyfriend and will never make the first move and they tell me that he's never made out with anyone before and just things that really get me down. but yet they say that we would be so cute together.

We are really close friends. When we are in school, we sit together in classes, walk in the hallways together, and sit with eachother in lunch. Now that isn't summer we go to the movies in groups of friends, or we just go someplace and hang out. I think he likes me back... but im afraid to make the first move too.

He invited me to this party he is having tomorrow. He's never invited me to one of his parties before. I know his mom doesn't like him having girls over she doesn't know, and I met her a few days ago... sooo. I don't know. I guess im kinda hoping for something to happen tomorrow, but I don't want to get my hopes up..

Or should I make the first move?
