motherteresa is a peta psycho Babyseal23 that was extremely funny and highly appropriate Skitzie kittie I hope you are never stricken with an imensely painfull disease that makes you beg for somone to put you ou tof your misery because that is the very reason any euthanization is humane including a human euthanization.

If you live in a rural area take your pet out and shoot it. If you live in the city find a friend that lives in a rural area and ask to use his gun and property. If you cannot do it yourself and cannot find a friend to help hire a vet or go to the SPCA.

I was thinking about euthinizing a the dog…After reading all the post on this site..I may give the dog a reprive Yes I miss my baby I raised from 8week to to april 26,2008…The grief was great. AFter failing to find a place for disposal I pulled out the hydrogen work lamp and got a new shovel and started digging in the back yard 4-6 feet deep place my baby in the ground. Then covered her up planted Marigold flowers across the top of here resting place then put pet moss on top of that… and the board that she chewed from out the basment well it here head stone for now…AS for her killer she growled at me and before I knew I it had it by the throat and “attitude adjustment by hank william Jr. might have gotten played out… was in order “like is screamed bloody murder… never had a problem with another growl… I found it hard to live with a dog that hurt you by killing the other dogs that you loved… What worse everytime I see all the picture me and the dog took here(photographer) that attidue ajustment theme just jumps back in head..everybody on the street and some people at the church loved this dog…

I am dealing with the grief right now .and will step up to my responsibility today personally ( many hate guns and do all they can to keep others from having them, but they will call others(911) with guns to protect them, or the rich will hire an armed guard with fire power). To you PETA folks,or those who will spend thousands on vet care for a dog or any other animal I am sorry for your distorted world view that animals are like humans, created in the immage of our GOD).Yes they have spirits, but not souls!I think Dogs and horses were created for man to serve him, and not as herd farm animals for food.( I know you’ll have fun with my Faith and belief in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, but HE is still Lord, no matter what you think).Personaly I know a 38 cal does immediatly shut down the central nervous system…thus its humane, but ONLY for those responsible to handle a firearm safetly and responsibly…not a thing for you city or suburban dwellers.

Keeping a sick dog or any animal alive, who is pain and terminally ill, is NOT “kindness” to animals! It is a selfish, misguided motivation to appease the owner’s feelings. These posts about what monsters those who euthanize animals in pain, are ignorant at best and downright cruel, not to mention idiotic, at worst.

These people SAY they are “animal lovers”, yet they’re more than willing to let their pet linger and die and suffer, so they (the owners) don’t have to FEEL bad!

Also to blame, IMO, are the vets who charge exorbitant fees to euthanize pets, when the cost THEM is minimal! They should be ashamed of themselves. Not all of have hundreds of dollars to line the pockets of these shysters! We have to put our dog to sleep and one vet after another actually wanted to also charge for an EXAM, of a 15-year-old husky who can’t walk, isn’t eating or drinking and gasping for breath. This is insane.

Losing a pet is ALWAYS going to happen eventually, and (I assume) it will ALWAYS feel bad to the owners! However, allowing the pet to suffer for days, weeks or months will NOT lessen the pain for the it…and eventually, will cause guilt, if the owner has a soul and a conscience.

Letting an animal suffer is NEVER “humane”!

a few years ago a friend of mine who lives on 20 acres let his golden lab out to do her business. she ended up getting into a fight with a wild animal. sheila was taken to the vet and was told that she would not make it through the night. the vet who had treated her for the last 8 years of her life gave my friend the option of having her put down in the vet’s office or at the ranch where she lived since she was a pup. my friend opted to have her put down at the only home she has ever known and he did it himself with love and care. every situation is different and should be discussed with your vet. if your doing it to get rid of your dog because you don’t want them anymore then shame on you. if your doing it because circumstance have come up then you should have the option. I know I would rather die at home with the ones I love then in some cold room that smells of disinfectant on a stainless steel table.

Answer #8

That’s easy. Call your vet and have him/her come to your house to properly perform a safe and humane euthanisia.

Answer #9

In the US, it’s illegal to do so. You’ll need to talk to your vet.

Answer #10

People who euthanize need to be beat. Do we kill our homeless or crackheads or folks on welfare with 10 kids not giving a damn? Medical situations at a VETRANARIAN’s office ok. But JimBob takin Ol Yeller out to shoot him in the head cause he’s too cheap or dumb to consider a kinder option than making that animal watch their owner whom they trust point blank shoot them or even worse.. shoot them and them suffer if they don’t die instantly? You don’t know, you haven’t been shot, they may suffer. Wow. Have some morals and be a kind person. Sorry.. I’m pretty solid on how I feel about that.. everyone’s entitled to their opinion though, even if it is wrong like with euthanasia supporters or practicers. :-)

you should have not even asked that on this page because if you can do that then you should not even have gotten the dog!! You need to just take the poor defensless animal to the vet and let them handle it the appropriate way and humane way. You must not have a heart of any kind to want to do this because spca or any place like that will do it for no cost as long there is something wrong the animal. Besides if you can try to or even think about euthanizing an animal at home with your own hands what could you be doing or thinking about killing next? I just want to know what kind of person you are or even a human with a heart that could do that to anything that has a heart beat still???

Answer #12

skitzykittie : I worked at a vet clinic and use to help with the euthanizations at times. Please do not think that all animals that are put to sleep by vets die peacefully. I witnessed dogs and cats that were terrified put in kennels until the vet could get around to them. Those poor animals seperated from the people they love because they didnt want to stick aroud and be there for their animals. I also saw a cat that didnt die right away because of the vet missing her mark. VETS are Human and they do make mistakes. I am not supporting one side or the other. Just wanted to let people know that mistakes are made even by vets.

Answer #13

I think it is how you and your dog would be comfortable doing it. You know your pet. If you think it would be more soothing to pass while at home, then do it at home. Be responsible with your decision. Schedule a lisenced vet. to come to your home. People will pass judgement no matter your reason. Keep it in perspective, where would you want to be and who would you be with? At home with the ones you love. How can you feel bad or guilty about that? I wish I knew I had that option before I laid down with my dog on the cold vet. hospital floor.

TO MOTHERTERESAO1 I AM AN ASPCA MEMBER. I HAVE AN ELEVEN YEAR OLD ROTTWEILER NAMED FREIDA. SHE HAS BEEN WITH US SINCE SHE WAS SIX WEEKS OLD.WE HAVE A ONE ACRE PROPERTY SHE HAS LIVED HER ENTIRE LIFE. WE ALSO HAVE A SIX YEAR RAT TERRIER NAMED ROCKET. WE GOT HIM DURING A FLOOD AND HE CONTRACTED PARVO. WE CURED HIM AT 5 MONTHS OLD. FREIDA IS ONE IF NOT THE BEST DOG I HAVE HAD OUT OF MAYBE 20 DOGS IN MY 42 YEARS OF LIFE. SHE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH PYOMETRIA. HER OPTIONS ARE SLIM SHE WON’T SURVIVE SURGERY BECAUSE OF HER AGE SHE HAS SEEN 2 CHILDREN AND 4 GRAND CHILDREN GROWING UP HERE. NOT TO MENTION HER ONLY LITTER SHE HAD WHEN SHE WAS TWO. I WAS UNABLE TO UNDERSTAND YOUR VIEW ON WHY IT IS UNNACCEPTABLE TO MAKE HER COMFORTABLE AS SHE DIES HERE AT HOME, RATHER THAN IN AN UNFAMILIAR PLACE TO TAKE HER LAST BREATH. IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN, PLEASE BE KIND TO THEM. THEY WILL CHOOSE YOUR NURSING HOME.
