well im not sure how you can stop but just reading your ? I started cracking knuckles so thinking about it has a lot to do wit it. when you crack your knuckles (I've heard that there's air in your joints and when you crack your knuckles you release the air) but thats just what I've heard do know if it's turn
I used to crack my knuckles all the time, it annoyed everyone around me but it was such a habit I couldn't stop. what I ended up doing was just stopping cold turkey . its easier and faster than a lot of other 'methods.' it's difficult for the first day but just DONT ALLOW yourself to do it and it gets easier. after about 3 weeks you should be totally broken of the habit .. just dont start again after that!

Cracking your knuckles is a real bad habit. There is usually no health hazard involved as you are just pushing air out of the area. But some people do develop arthritis from this practise.
Treat it like an addiction...you must replace it with something else. So choose something to replace it. When do you crack...when you are bored? Then find a hobby to keep busy, when you are in a stressful situation? Then learn to relax...take up meditation, yoga etc.
