Personal shopping, imho, would be the way to go if you’re young & have a car to use. A lot of people (myself included) wouldn’t go out to the mall if they were forced to, but sometimes it’s necessary to fetch that last item that couldn’t be shipping from an etailer, or that was only available locally.

Also helping to organize / clean up houses for the holidays, decorate for parties, help out with catering service(s), call centers that phone people for donations, seasonal retail work at traditional stores, etc, are all popular this time of year. If there is a craiglist.org city site for your town or city, that’s an easy way to connect with other folks. Also, ask around the neighborhood - you might find a lot of people willing to shell out for some extra help this time of year.
