What file format do ipods use?

Asked by tamdamnly over 2 years ago, 2 answers.

what file format does the I-pod require? Is it the same format as the MP3, or is it WAV, or is it something entirely different?

It's an entirely different format: AAC. the AAC format doesn't move from player to player. It has some sort of encryption that keeps it from moving around like the other formats. When you import music into itunes, you can set the format to save a copy as a mp3 first before it saves as AAC for your ipod.
