What file format do need to download from limewire to an ipod video

I downloaded a couple of movies from Limewire with and ending of avi, but when I tried to put them in my IPod it gives the message that this cannot be played on my IPod. Can someone tell me what format or ending I should be lloking for when downloading a movie from limewire that I want to go on my IPod.

When you download a video from limewire, add '.mp4' to the end of it.
Then youll get them already in the format,and ready to go

Make sure the videos you want to load in your iPod are MP4, M4V format. Otherwise iPod won’t read them. You can use converter software to do some conversion.
