RUBBING ALCAOHL OR NAIL POLISH REMOVER
Honey and milk. Combine them and apply to face. I had really dry skin, and this totally worked. Also, to keep it gone, drink a lot of water. DON'T use alcohol or nail polish remover, that'll just dry it out further and irritate it.
You need to use a facial scrub to loosen the dead skin cells or use a facial loofah to get rid of it twice a week. Keep on moisturizing at least twice a day. Wash your face with a gentle face wash and not soap because soap dries off the skin. If you dont have many blemishes/pimples/blackheads, reduce your use of astringents as these also dry the skin and rob it of it's natural oils.
You might have your doctor look at it. I was getting dry and/or red patches behind my knees, on my neck and behind my ears, and on my cheeks. In my case the problem was seborea. My Dr. told me to moisturise the affected areas and she perscribed fluocinonide cream to use on any areas that didn't get better with moisturiser.
Mine flares up with cold weather. It cleared up until the recent cold snap which caused it to come back.
two words: exfoliating wash! this is basically a scrub that is supposed to get rid of dry skin and all clean into the deep pores as well(bonus!). some brands do hurt or sting slightly but they all leave my skin nice and soft. another thing is moisteriser. johnsons moisturisers are truly amazing and are pretty cheap as well! olay is also good but usually a bit more expensive! oh and another thing that could help is E45 cream. you can get this from most chemists/pharmacists. although it's not all nice smelling and all that jazz it does get the job done and is probably what the doctor would prescribe if you went to one.
wash your face with warm watter insted of hot also sometimes running an ice cube on clean face helps a little another surprising thing is that if your constantly mosterizing your face it becomes dependent an even dryer so stop moisterizn for awhile at first it might seem a little dry but adventualy it will clear up beleive me because when one of my freinds told me I didnt trust it that much and then I tried it and it worked!
