Can someone tell me why I get the sound of opening and closing doors on my pc?

Do you have an instant messenger on your computer? It could be people just logging in and out.

Yup AIM (Aol Instant Messenger) specifically has the door opening and shutting creakily.

It's an icon of a little yellow man.

yes yu can stop it, by going into yur buddy settings, on the sound for buddies comin and going...

Most likely it is someone signing on/off from aim.
