Does walking help to burn fat in the lovehandle area?

Finally Spring, and I can get my excercise outside! Does walking help to burn fat in the lovehandle area? What are some good techniques for getting fat off of that area?

Walking, to my opinion doesn't do much..I would try thoes exercise tv shows..Sometimes they work. It would depend on your body type. Not much I can really say...

You can't direct fat where to get off of first, haha. Different people have different areas where they put on first and lose from first - for some it's the gut, for others the butt, it depends. You have to work your whole body, and indeed, walking only tones you somewhat, but doesn't burn fat. Try something more rigorous like running or biking, especially biking uphill. Or swimming. But make sure you do it regularly.

Walking for an hour burns just as much calories as running for an hour. Running just creates more muscle. So, it might take a couple months of walking three times a week to actually get rid of them (depending on the size)

I'm not sure if i cant explain this but here goes. sit with ur knees up to you stomache. lean back with ur chest to the cieling, put your legs(bent together)down on the floor. You'll kinda look like an L. Now start doing crunchies like that!

Sorry Brooke, Walking for an hour does not burn the same amount of calories as running for an hour. Walking will burn FEWER calories than running the same amount of time because your body obviously has to provide more energy for a higher intensity exercise. Walking will burn a higher PERCENTAGE of fat for energy than running, but even that doesn't mean walking is better for fat loss. The glycogen that's the primary fuel when you're running will need to be replaced at some point. Assuming you're consuming fewer calories than you're burning, your body will break down more fat while you're at rest to replace glycogen stores. So you will more calories, and later on more fat, by running for an hour as opposed to walking for the same amount of time. Bottom line: Whether you're walking, running or whatever, if you want to lose the love handles, burn more calories than you're eating.

Hey brook, um yeah, walking is a whole body work out which burns fat! its just burns fat from anywhere it can! i was a size 14 4 weeks ago and now that iv started to walk at a speed of 6km/h on my treadmill im a size 10/8 also iv been following a low cal diet (1000 cals a day). I walk o my treadmill foran hour a dayat that speed but also to help tone up my stomach i do 300 sit ups a day (100 at a time) also i do 200 squates to help my buum and lift weights for 5 min maximum just to tone them. and it works rel fast! i had love handles the size of Britain! i tell ya! but now i can where any hipsterjeans and little top and absolutly noghtng wil hanhing over te edge! its quite incredible actualy and the compliments u will get once uv goen rid of them! wow!

so yeah,lol.. walking helps a HELL of a lot. i defintly NOT runner :|lol

julziepoo kinda cheered me up! am a size 14 now, and I am also excersing on my treadmill (been like a week) and I was not sure whether walking would do me any good.. but actually I can barely manage time for walking, I can do all these sets ups and weight lifting thing.. so do you thnk, if I walk like 1 hr everyday (without any other exercise with a good diet system) then I would find a result?! my love handles are the size of twice Britain now!
