Answer #2

I’m sure the government wouldn’t like missing out on the excise taxes, either…all the money would go to the bootleggers…

Answer #3

Nope. Remember about prohibition if you’ve learned about it? That’s how mobs started…kinda. The crime rate will go through the roof.

Answer #4

its been banned in the past and quite simply didnt work out. There were people making their own and selling it and there were a bunch of crimes being commited by drunks paranoid of getting caught. Its easier to let people drink and encourage and enforce responsibility than it is to stop people from drinking.

Answer #5

Banning alcohol will only cause the crime rate to go up… just like before.

Answer #6

nope(:

Answer #7

I don’t think it should be banned, but I think there should be harsher punishments and zero tolerance for things like DUIs and public drunkeness.

Answer #8

Answer #9

I dont think that we should ban alcohol. First of all, if you remember in history, they did ban alcohol at one point. All it lead to was people making their own and buying and selling home made moonshine and other alcohol that was way more toxic with a higher alcohol percentage. I dont think the government has the right to take away something that if used responsibly, is harmless and good fun. If you banned everything that caused problems in the world, we would be left with nothing.

Answer #10

Interesting. How many of you that favor alcohol would also favor allowing cocain?

Personally, I don’t favor either. I would love to see alcohol banned just as drugs. Mainly because so many in the population cannot be trusted to handle drinking in a responsible manner and become liabilities to the population, even causing death.

Societies have always passed laws to protect society. It is a shame that society isn’t able to pass laws to protect itself from the ravages of excessive drinking.

I hope you do not take offense,
    To that that's gone before;
'Tis only that it's my two-cents,
And not one penny more. §;o)

Answer #17

Answer #18

No.

It’s up to us to use restraint. Many people use it in an acceptable, responsible manner, and some …not so much. In the end, you shouldn’t get rid of something just because some people have a hard time keeping themselves under control.

That just takes us back to elementary school days when 2 bad kids in class make teacher cancel the school trip for everyone - we’re not kids anymore.

It’s quite simple, if you don’t want it, don’t drink it. You can’t place your ideals on the rest of society.

And just so you know - I’m Buddhist, and can’t have alcohol, so don’t think I’m defending my own right to drink.
