Hi,

Darvon (propoxyphene), the active ingredient in Darvocet, is normally completely gone from your system within 3-7 days of taking it.

However, about one-quarter of it is changed in the liver to norpropoxyphene, which is also causes analgesia. It also is detectable on most drug tests as well.

Unfortunately, because of this two-stage metabolism, the time in which anything is detectable is COMPLETELY UNPREDICTABLE. There is no dependable evidence as to how long it remains detectable on a drug screen, because, in general, studies on people who take drug screens are highly unreliable. Anecdotal reports of times as short as 3 days or as long as 3 weeks are within the realm of possibility.

It depends on how often you take it. If it's a temporary prescription that you haven't takent before then once you stop 1-3 days. If you take it regularly then it plays a factor, more like 5-7 days. If you take it every day for more than 30 days then it will show up in hair drug tests and things to that nature.
