Does anyone know why the Cuban and Puerto Rican flags are practically the same?

Yeah, it's an interesting story. The Cuban flag was designed first, by Cuban exiles who wanted to free the island from Spanish rule. I forget what all the colors in the Cuban flag represent, but the story goes that a guy named Antonio Velez saw the Cuban flag in New York. He thought it would look interesting to invert the colors of the Cuban flag, and he sketched a rough draft that eventually became very popular among Cuban revolutionaries. Francisco Marin, a Puerto Rican national also living in the US, noticed the flag and decided to sew it and display it to a gathering of revolutionaries. From there it became accepted as the Puerto Rican flag.
