yesterday morning I noticed that my rottie's eyes were cloudy actually looked like red eye in a photo. He is eating but being picky (not is dog food but other food), he is sleeping a lot. Can anyone advise me of what could be wrong or what to do.

I have had plenty of dogs and usually cloudy eyes is a sign of going blind. you should take him to the vet

depending on how old he is, he could be going blind or getting cataracts.

My puppy got cloudy eyes and they were a bit puffy, but that was because of allergies, so I'm not sure what it could be =)

If he's young, take him to the vet...if he's older...say 8 or 9, then he's probably getting cataracts, as all older dogs do...there's nothing you can do about it, and I'd never noticed that it really bothered them much...they do most of their 'seeing' with their noses, anyway...unlike us.

I've had three rotts and thats just what happens to them when they get old. But if your dog is younger or mid age, it very well could be cataracts. Rotts are very prone to eye problems, specially cataracts. If he isn't old then I would take him for a second opinion. My dogs always have been mis diagnosed becuase many vets are too intimidated to do a thurough checkup. But if it is due to a virus and not just his eyes you'll be able to tell by the coat. It'll loose its shine dramaticly.
