My favourite singer!! Nelly Furtado! Asked by sweetgirl101 about 1 year ago, 12 answers.

Well..My friend has a party this weekend at a swimming pool, and there is no way I can miss it. The probem is I just got my period today. I am not allowed to wear a tampon yet, so can I wear a pad and go swimming? I have heard that the pad goes really...

bulky and it might fall off. Can it? Also, if I wear a pad will the blood leak out into the water? PLEASE HELP!!!

well I used a pad once but I was in a river and with family..so thats kinda different..in a pool I think it might show up way easier because the water is clearer and the pad will just get completely soaked with the pool water and might not absorb the other stuff..u know. last time I was going to a pool when that happened..I used a tampon because I knew it wouldnt leak and it didnt. but if you do, just ask for some help from your mom or something and use the sport ones because theyre comfier

I really wouldn't recommend it either. Most likely blood will get into the water and it will probably fall off.

yes, it WILL leak. sorry, but you should just sit this one out. wear a cute suit (not white or pastel) or cute shorts, take a bunch of pantie liners, check often to be sure and have fun! until you are able to wear a tampon, it is no swimming in pools.
been there, done that. I still remember how I felt when I realized that it was leaking. everyone saw. sad

The only difference between wearing a pad in the pool and not wearing one, is you'll have a big bulky wet thing hanging in your bathing suit. The blood is still going to leak out. I would suggest sitting this one out or just dipping your legs in.

I don't think you should wear a pad. I know you don't wear tampon's yet but a tampon is your best option.

I'm sure your parents will let you wear a tampon for a swim party. I'm sure one of your girl friends would have one too.

Yes, the pad might fall out and, you'll turn the water all red.
I'm sorry to ruin your fun but, no, you can't wear a pad in the pool.
I've always wanted to go swimming on my periods but, of course, it ruins the fun. My mom always told me that you shouldn't wear pads in the pool for it would turn the water red like I was saying and, it would be inbarrassing to wear that in public especially at a pool party.
So, your best bett is to stay out of the pool and, better to be safe then sorry.

I have the same delemma because im going snorkeling in shark water while on my period, but I guess that once you get in teh water it generally stops the bleeding, unless its your heavy flow day
