How do I grow a money tree outdoors?

How do I grow a Money Tree outdoors? I was told when I bought it, it would do well outdoors but after reading all the notices, I'm wondering if this is so.
Does anyone have experience with outdoor growing of this lovely twisted trunk tree?

Ours survived indoors for a while but this past winter had problems & finally died. I hadn't heard they would do well outside before, if you live in a more temperate area that doesn't get too hot or cold, it might do well. But if you live in an area that gets very cold, I wouldn't recommend putting it outside.
