Why do people piece gauge and tattoo to the extreme ?

Why do people piece gauge and tattoo to the extreme ?it seems like maybe a compulsive disorder or some kind of addiction. ,what can be done to persuade people to stop?

Answer #1

well doll, they do because they are goth or emo and they need attention and this is sadly how they get it. I am 100 persent agenst it.

Answer #2

I personally think people get tatoos and piercing bc 1. they get piercings bc they want to be extreme and see how tough they can be, and 2. people get tatoo’s to show how they love somebody, or they want to express themselves. im not saying anybody wants attention by them. but myself I think tatoos and piercings are cool :)

Answer #3

dont try and get them to stop. piercings show character, just like tattoos. its something fun you can try. I love my piercings and gauges. yes, it is an addiction. but better that then drugs. (:

Answer #4

its a art form,or how a person describe his or herself,if it was a disorder,a lot of people have it..it can be a job too

Answer #5

its a body modification, it can be a tradition, its a form of art, ect its the same as people not wanting toi get anything done to there body because theres an opposite to everything in this world it also goes back thousands of years people (especially women) used to gauge there bottom lips with ceramic plates the bigger the plate was, the more attractive she was the same with those women with all the metal rings around there neck and tattoos, scarring, ect has been around for centuries, people used to do it as a tradition back then now, its a choice if you dont want one, dont get it if you want one, think about it first almost everything has a risk but nowdays too many kids are just going out and gettink and holes in there skin without thinking about it first

Answer #6

It isn’t a disorder…its called extreme body modification. they believe they should experiment with their body, its their ‘temple’ they paint their lives onto their body, a big display of their art…I totally look up to them. they have the balls to do it, and they couldn’t care less what pepole think of them. people like you, sorry but has to be said, annoy me because you’re trying to stop people living their lives the way the want to. you have NO right to try and “persuade” them to not gett something done to THEIR body.

Answer #7

People do need to think about what they do, thjey are consequences, esp people who have family, children etc, they do need jobs, and they do need acceptance of society and a normal life, and family can not support a person forever while they experiment of their temple, ‘body’ and ruin their attractiveness, its very sad, when people ruin their looks purposely, You can love someone deeply regardless of what they do, but if you see someone jump off a bridge you try to save them

Answer #8

LOL goth or emo my butt.

I’m neither.

Gauges and tattooes are just body modifications. Same with piercings.

And it’s freaking addicting. Trust me, you wont beable to persuade someone to stop. They’ll stop when they’re ready.

I love piercings. I’m addicted. I’m not old enough to get tattooes or else I would, and my friend Nik has everything gauged.

It’s just another way to show indiciduality. But it can get gross. Why those people go that far is a question to me as well

Answer #9

because they can I swear to f*cking christ there isnt one open minded person who cares why they did it im damn near 5 inches in my ears and I make 250 thousand a year without overtime pay so the “cant get a job” reason for not getting them is bs besides emo and goth arent real emo hmm whats that short for EMOtions and goth is a mind set nobody is born scene preppy nerdy etc. and judyapucket who do you think you are you are!? no one if thats not discrimination at its finest I don’t know wtf is. maybe you are ugly or disgusting from the sound of your little comment there it sounds like you are just another yuppie to concerned with what other people think of you instead of being you. you should grow up and jazlovestoskate couldnt have said it better myself

Answer #10

If people like it, they like it.

Answer #11

hahaha holistercazed’s comment made me laugh. goth or emos that need attention rolls eyes right. people do it becuase it looks cool. it’s a form of art. and yes, it is an addiction. if you haven’t pierced/ guaged anything (I can’t say for tattoos, seeing as I have none yet), you wouldn’t understand. but it’s not something you can say “ok I think it looks weird, stop” and expect them to listen. yeah. I think there’s a line to draw. but I also think it’s up to each individual to find out where their boundary line is. like I said, it’s art. their body is the canvas. and I’d like to point out that piercings can be removed. they heal up, barely anything to show for it a year later. there’s surgury to remove tattoos if you decide you don’t like em. your comment about “if you saw someone jumping off a cliff, you’d save them”? well duh. that’s different though. just because someone gets a tattoo or a piercing doesn’t mean their life is over. it doesn’t ruin much except for maybe that job interview at Hollister. let them decorate themselves how they want to.

Answer #12

‘Ally xo’ is right.

And ugh.. ‘judyapuckett’.. “they do need acceptance of society and a normal life, and family cannot support a person forever while they experiment of their temple, ‘body’ and ruin their attractiveness, its very sad, when people ruin their looks purposely”

I’m so sorry, but I HATE people like you. No one needs acceptence from society, And I would hate to have a normal life. If someones family really loves them they wouldnt care about their appearence. People that get tattooed, and pierced arent ruining their looks, they’re adding to their look, making them feel more comfortable in their skin.

And to you ‘hollistercazed’ Goth and emo people have nothing to do with tattoos and piercings. Grow up. btw it looks like you’re the one that wants attention with all of your ‘hollister’ brand name shi*.

Ooh I could go on. But I’ll stop.
