Why did he do this to me?

Why would someone send you a message saying “I’ll leave you alone because you don’t want to talk 2 me anymore?” He sent me a message saying this last night. I had never even said anything mean or hurtful to him. He just randomly said that to me. So I guess what I’m trying to ask is (1) why did he do this and (2) why would he say that
