Why can't I over come this

I know how you feel. When I fist met my husband’s friends and a few of his co-workers, I was shy and quiet. Trying to make small talk with women you feel that you have to like and have something in common with and worrying that they don’t like you, is tough. It’s almost like being on a job interview. I felt like they were deciding instantly whether I was going to be their friend or not. It’s much easier to talk to someone you don’t know if you know you have things in common to talk about and when you only have one or two other women to talk to, not 6 or 7. Ask your husband to nonchalantly find some things out about his friends’ wives and then go out with a couple that has similar interests and personalities. Keep your first few outings low key to take some of the pressure off. Like maybe a relaxed barbecue or a brief meet -up for coffee. As soon as the ice is broken, you can discover some things on your own that you have in common with them. Do they love to cook? Share your favorite recipe with her. Love to read? Ask her what her favorite book is. Is she complaining she needs some time away from the husband and kids to relax? Plan a ‘girls night’ together. Even if you make just one new friend, chances are you’ll hang out with some of her friends and make more friends. Have a little faith in yourself. No one will think you’re ‘stupid’. Greet her warmly and smile. You’ll be a hit. :)
