Why am I missing my peroid every other month?

Ever since august I’ve been getting my period every other month instead of every month.

A brief history of my peroid is(incase it helps): I got my first a month before my 12th b-day. I have basically been getting it every single month since then(there has been a couple skips but that’s normal). Until recently I had one in august, october and december.

I am 18 years old and not sexually active at all(yes I’m a virgin). I asked my mom and she said it’s normal for some women to have peroids every other month(about 56 days). But I have been annoyingly regular until recently.

Another thing is my mom said it may be because I have increased my amount of exersie. (from about 15 minutes of walking a day to about an hour a day…though it’s basically split in 15-20 minute intervals thought out the day…college commute is a pain in the butt) and am loosing a bit of weight

So is this normal at all or should I contact a doctor? (it’s not the most easy question to ask a person)

Answer #1

everything menstrual wise is back to normal

Answer #2

It could be nothing, however this type of change in your menstrual cycle is more normal during puberty - since you are 18 and should be over that stage, I suggest getting it checked out by a doctor.

Also exercise can influence your menstrual cycle, but usually only if you go from no or little to over exercising (your shouldn’t have an effect at all).

Answer #3

Its normal. Birth control can regulate it.

Answer #4

I have the same issue. My doctor wanted me to go on birth control. I desided to not go with it, and live with it. I have found that when I’m stressed and stuff it causes me to not have my period for a while. Maybe your stressed? Maybe you should talk to your doctor :)
