How to prove myself if no one will hire me?

I don’t need fun advice I need serious answers to a real serious problem in this society. How are we suppose to prove ourselves worthy of of employment if we aren’t given the chance to work. What is the purpose of rehabilitation if it’s success isn’t given a chance .Can it be that the system that created the rehabilitative programs don’t believe in them, passing that disbelief on to the private sector? Think about it, if the federal and state governments won’t hire us why should the private sector?

You’ve got a damn good point. They probably don’t give a rats rear end about people like you, and the rehabilitation centers are probably just there to clean people up and help keep crime rates down by sifting out drug addicts who hopefully won’t go back to doing/selling/buying drugs.

Even in the private sector I doubt many people would hire a bum off the streets, even if he tried to clean himself up in a storm drain and put on the nicest clothes he could find in the dumpster.

Just keep looking, there’s go to be someone out there with enough heart to hire you, whatever your situation is. Fight the power, and don’t let the Man get you down.

I’ve been asking this question for years. My sister-in-law is in prison and when she’s released, she won’t be able to get a job even though she has a masters’ degree. When society refuses to hire ex-felons, it just sets them back up for failure. I think that says a lot about what society really wants - to just get these people out of sight rather than help them become good citizens again.

But, you know, laws can be changed…
