Who came up with Valentine's and how long has it been around for?

im just curious to know who came up with having a special day on feb 14 to express how special someone is to you on this love filled day, dont we do that everyday anyway (wel almost lol)? and how long has valentines been around for?

I believe that sometime during the middle ages it was against the Catholic religion to marry soldiers…SO along comes a priest named St. Valentine who married them secretly.

it was created in the 1400s and there are MANY stories about how it was created, here’s a couple:

  1. A king in some country I forgot wanted single young men to go to war for him and he didn't want any men to get married. he thought that single men fought better. then, this man named Valentine, a minister, secretly married couples anyway.
  2. a man in jail named Valentine fell in love w/ another prisoners daughter who often came for visits. then, he was near death and before he died, he  wrote a love note on the cell wall and signed it "Your Valentine"

Hmm I think I created it back in the day. I dont remember how long about, but it was when I was a small lad.
