Which would be a greater loss?

I was debating with a friend, over which loss would be worse. The loss of a relative that was old (for example: Grandparent), or a newborn.

I said that the newborn would be a greater loss because I would never be able to have met that person, and they still had their whole life left to live. But the older relative, of course it’d be sad to lose them. But they had already lived their life and should already be ready to go. But she called me insensitive..

Which do you believe would be the greater loss?

Answer #1

quite hard because its death. but to be honest I’d think grandparent because you knew them for ever. while with the new born you don’t. but if it was my kid then its a completely different story. I would be devastated and it would be worse

Answer #2

The answer is definitely difficult because if you lost older one then you will feel terrible because you are attached to them much more then new born but on the other side maybe the older people should die as soon as they have any problems.. But still I think the new born baby would be a greater loss!!!

Answer #3
  • I think a newborn because its barley starting a life & it didn’t have any time to make a life and enjoy it;On the other hand if your old and die it’s not the same because they had time to live life for a long time you know.
Answer #4

I don’t think that you can evaluate which would be worse to lose, honestly, because both losses hurt and tear people up. EVERY life is precious, every life is equal.

Answer #5

a new born would be worse because they wouldn’t be able 2 acheive there dreams or do anything with there life an older person would have lived there life and acheived there dreams already so I hoped I helped
