It depends on the type of music. For me:
Rock - Lyrics Metal - Beat Techno - Beat 80’s pop - Both
Its can be everything!! For sum people it is the beat, for others it is lyrics. Or even both For me it is the way it makes me feel and the meaning of the song and how it relates to my life. But I also LOVE the beat!!
Lyrics. I just wrote a whole thing about it in a question a few minutes ago.
Personally its the beats for me but lyrics can be used very well sometimes
In general I’d say people like a melody better and they tend to ignore the lyrics. Songs can refer to some pretty bad things but most pay no attention to that. Haha.
Personally, I like lyrics.
