would it be stunk or stank?
It depends on the sentence. Both are technically used for the past, it just depends on the context.
His breath stank of alcohol The dog has not stunk that badly since the last time he got wet.
Stank. It's accepted in the English language to say "stunk", however, the proper way to say it in the past tense is "stank"..."stunk" is the past participle.
Stank is not slang. "Stank" is the proper way to say it in it's past tense. "Stunk" is the past participle.
