Was it the horcrux in Harry that made the hat pick Slytherin?

I was just reading a fanfic and the question popped into my head. I know it was the horcrux that gave him the parseltongue ability so there was obviously some power-share there.

With Harry’s parents being in Gryffindor and his hero complex, could it actually have been the influence of the horcrux in Harry that made the hat think he would do best in Slytherin?

Or, alternatively, was it just Harry?

Answer #1

It’s a toss up between whether he was born with certain traits that suited syletherin, or if it was the horocrux. Remember, that those traits are not necessarily evil, nor are all syltherin bad…

Answer #2

yes it was because he posses many of the qualities that tom riddle (voldemort) does and no horcruxes do not give more abilities harry was enstowed with the ability from voldemort when he was scarred (thus also createing himself a horcrux but the horcrux did not give the ability) voldemort during the murder attempt transfered some of himself into harry at such a young age they manifested themselves during the beggings of puberty
