I like this girl in my school very much

I like this girl in my school very much. She is in 9th grade and I’m in 10th. we barely even talk but I told her that I liked her on a social site, “twice” but she told me that she didn’t like me. Now whenever we see each other we don’t talk. I was going to ask her out on christmas but I have to talk to her in order for me to do that. I’m not sure if I should talk to her and ask her out, or talk to her and just be friends. What should I do?
